Pensacola Mayor Ashton Hayward has been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Florida Commission on Community Service (Volunteer Florida). Gov. Scott also reappointed local attorney Kerry Schultz of the Fountain, Schultz and Associates law firm to the commission.

The organization was created by an Executive Order of Governor Lawton Chiles in 1993 and established in Florida Statutes 14.29 by the Florida Legislature in 1994. It is one of 52 state service commissions administering national service grants across the United States (including Puerto Rico and Guam).
