Butch Hansen, the Pensacola City Council’s strategic budget planner, has broken out the proposed spending of Local Option Sales Tax Series IV spending by Parks and Recreation for Park, Athletic Facility and Community Center improvements through FY 2029, which totals $24,059,000. His analysis found District 4, Mayor Hayward’s district, is set to receive 45.3 percent of the funds, $8.25 million of which is for the new Bayview Community Center.
In contrast, Councilman Sherri Myers’ District 2 only will receive $450,000 over the next 10 years– less than 2 percent.
District 1 PC Wu – $2,800,000
District 2 Sherri Myers – $450,000
District 3 Andy Terhaar – $1,625,000
District 4 Larry Johnson – $10,897,000
District 5 Gerald Wingate – $1,145,000
District 6 Brian Spencer – $2,962,000
District 7 Jewel Cannada-Wynn – $4,180,000
“There were several changes to the LOST IV spending plan in the FY 19 proposal, with several moving project spending forward into FY18,” wrote Hansen in an email to Myers. “I will be detailing these changes to address in the budget work shop as desired.”
