Mayor Reeves will stay at City Hall

Mayor D.C. Reeves 9/24/24

We dedicate ourselves to this work because we believe in the power of positive change. For me, there’s no greater fulfillment of seeing that change than serving as Mayor of my hometown.

I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity you’ve given me to lead this city. There’s no better place and time to make a lasting impact than as your mayor.

I’m proud of our team, our accomplishments, and the bright future that lies ahead.

We have so much to be excited about: a new airport expansion, American Magic’s permanent home, the redevelopment of the historic Baptist Hospital site, a city-wide parks maintenance overhaul, and the transformative Hollice T. Williams Greenway, a historic investment in stormwater infrastructure. In just 500 days, we secured more than $100 million in grant funding to kickstart projects that will shape our city for generations to come.

And thanks to your input, our 10-year strategic plan – published this week, in fact – provides a clear roadmap to realizing your vision for Pensacola. I’m committed to bringing this plan to life.

While it’s an honor to be in the discussion about federal leadership, my heart remains in Pensacola. I made a promise to this city two years ago, and I intend to keep it. I will continue to dedicate my full energy and effort to making Pensacola the best it can be.

As for who represents this great city in Congress, I’m eager to meet with candidates and support the one who loves, respects and fights for this place the way I always will. I look forward to working with our next representative, whoever that may be, to continue our amazing trajectory.

Together, we will continue to build a brighter future for Pensacola.

  1. I am happy to see the Mayor staying to work on the initiatives he has started through, at least as long as he is in the job. He is young and has many years ahead to take on bigger things if he chooses to stay in the public service role.

The slate of candidates wanting to take the Gaetz seat will be plenty big enough without him.
