During last week’s Pensacola City Council meeting, City Administrator Bill Reynolds solicited public involvement regarding “a situation where the Mayor needs your help.â€
Apparently, Mayor Ashton Hayward is having a tough time finding someone to serve as his designated member for the Escambia County Mass Transit Advisory Committee. The Mayor is allotted one appointee to the committee.
“We have yet to have anybody who has showed interest in being the Mayor’s pick on this particular committee,†Reynolds told the city council during the March 8 meeting.
The county’s mass transit advisory committee was created by the Escambia County Board of County Commissioners. The body is charged with advising the commission on mass transit issues and meets quarterly. Specifically, the committee assists in developing and maintaining an effective and efficient mass transit system.
Originally, the deadline for applications for the Mayor’s pick was set for March 5. That date has now been extended until March 23.
Applicants must be a resident of the city of Pensacola and electors of Escambia County. Applications may be obtained by visiting the city’s website, or in person on the seventh floor of Pensacola City Hall. Completed applications must be submitted in person to the mayor’s office, or via fax at (850)435-1611 or by mail at P.O. Box 12910, Pensacola, Fl 32521.
