From the Mayor’s Office:
I believe that citizens should have a clear path to recall any elected official, and if this amendment helps clarify the issue, then I wholeheartedly support it. However, I’m disappointed that the City Council is pushing forward with an amendment that could radically increase the size of our city government and cost taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars or more. I believe that citizens are looking for smaller, smarter government that does more with less. The City Council has always been provided with two full-time, dedicated staff positions, and the full staff of the City is available to support Council initiatives. Taxpayers shouldn’t have to pay for two separate staffs at City Hall.
