As we broke earlier today, Escambia County District 4 commission candidate Stan McDaniels has been charged with carrying a prohibited firearm. According to the police report, McDaniels had tucked in the front of his pants a loaded black Beretta M9. “Inside the loaded Beretta was a magazine holder with nine .40 cal rounds and there was also one round in the chamber.”
Pensacola Police responded to call of a suspicious male in the area of Baylen and Main streets on July 4 (I had earlier reported it was July 5 based on the timeline showed on McDaniels’ Facebook page).
The officers were later notified by dispatch the man was Stanley McDaniels who had the pistol visible as he waved at passing vehicles. Officer Mayo made contact with McDaniels and told him that open carry is not allowed in the state.
McDaniel told the officer he would exercise his Fifth Amendment right. He provided his Florida Conceal Carry permit as his identification. The officer noticed that McDaniel had a camera on a tripod to film the encounter. According to the report, McDaniel said “he wanted to take this to the Supreme Court.”

We reported earlier that McDaniels informed the commissioners that he would be hosting a Second Amendment event on the July 4. It looks like no one showed up but him.
