Meadows new PJC president

Pensacola Junior College’s District Board of Trustees extended an invitation to Dr. Charles E. Meadows to become the college’s sixth president during a special session Tuesday, April 8.
The trustees elected him unanimously.

PJC Board of Trustees Chair Vincent Andry called Meadows to extend the invitation. He accepted and contract terms will be negotiated.

“Dr. Meadows impressed me,” Andry said. “He is innovative and creative and experienced with institutional finance and student growth issues.

“This is a new age for PJC and for the state of Florida as a whole. With the budget constraints, we won’t have the dollars we once had to operate.”

Meadows currently serves as president of Lurleen B. Wallace Community College in Andalusia, Ala., a position he has held since 2003. Previously, he served as president of Ayers State Technical College, Anniston, Ala.,1996-2003; and as vice president of Bevill State
Community College, Sumiton, Ala.,1991-1996.
