At yesterday’s County Commission meeting, Director of Corrections Gordon Pike told the board that the county has hired six additional mental health counselors and one addition medical doctor to see to the needs of those hurt in the April 30 explosion at the Central Booking and Detention Center.

Commission Chairman Lumon May said, “Whatever resources are needed to treat these people humanely, I will see that it’s done.”

Pike encouraged families to contact the Emergency Operations Center if they are concerned about family members in the jail – (850) 471-6600.
