Congressman Jeff Miller this morning held a press conference at Bartram Park to announce his support for fellow Congressman Connie Mack IV (R-Ft. Myers) for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate, the one held by Democrat Bill Nelson.

“Bill Nelson is lock-step with President Obama in believing that more government is the solution,” said Mack. “I believe in the great people of Florida and Northwest Florida.”

Mack blasted Obama and Nelson for wanting more taxes, more regulations and more government mandates.

When asked why he entered the race so late, Mack said that none of the current candidates had capability of beating Nelson, who has served since in the U.S. Senate since 1995 and was a Congress before that from 1979-91.The other Republicans in the primary are George LeMieux, Adam Hasner, Mike McCalister and Craig Miller.

Mack said that he believes his federal deficit plan could return fiscal sanity to Washington, D.C. The Mack Penny Plan Penny Plan balances the budget by cutting total federal spending by one percent each year for six consecutive years, setting an overall spending cap of 18 percent of gross domestic product in 2018, and reducing overall spending by $7.5 trillion over 10 years.
