Miller leaves airport post. Hall isn’t sad.

Frank Miller is the new aviation director of the San Antonio International Airport. He has been director of Pensacola Gulf Coast Regional Airport since 1987.

San Antonio City Manager Sheryl Sculley announced Miller’s appointment yesterday. The San Antonio International Airport is in the midst of a massive expansion project budgeted at more than $500 million….in Pensacola, our big expansion plan is only $51 million.

In press release, Sculley said, “Frank has a strong background in airport operations and construction, revenue enhancement, and community outreach. His many years of working in the aviation industry are a valuable asset to the San Antonio International Airport.”

According to mySanAntonio.com, in his resume, Miller said that he led “the cooperative effort between the Pensacola business community, local governments and community groups to recruit and secure air service With Air Tran Airways, the second largest low fare carrier in the U.S.”

Pensacola Councilman Sam Hall told the San Antonio reporter that he’s not too sad to see Miller go. Hall said that Miller got too involved in politics.

“He just inserted himself into areas he had no business,” Hall said. “I think he liked playing in the political field.”

Miller starts work May 18.
