Mitchells get Golden Brick

The Pensacola Downtown Improvement Board (DIB) awarded the 2011 Golden Brick Award to Rosie O’Grady’s of Pensacola, Inc. for the significant physical improvements to one of Pensacola’s oldest buildings at 310 S. Tarragona Street during its monthly meeting earlier today.

The award, presented annually, is represented by a restored antique brick (circa 1890s) used more than a century ago to pave the streets of Downtown Pensacola, topped with an engraved gold plaque. It recognizes the completion of a very visible building improvement project that greatly enhances the appearance, image, and vitality of Downtown Pensacola.

In addition, four other property owners also received Silver Certificates in recognition of the outstanding physical enhancements their improved buildings provided to Downtown Pensacola during the past year. Properties receiving 2011 Silver Certificates included:

  • Polonza Bistro for exterior improvements at 286 N. Palafox Street
  • The U.S. Government for renovation of the U.S. Custom House into the Winston E. Arnow Federal Building at 100 N. Palafox Street
  • Elebash Jewelry Company for the exterior improvements at 36 S. Palafox Place
  • Deborah Dunlap Properties for the Vaughn Financial Group, Northwestern Mutual Financial Network in the renovation of the building at 108 S. Palafox Place

Collectively, these projects represent several million dollars of reinvestment in Downtown Pensacola as well as the preservation and restoration of some of downtown’s most historic buildings
