The World Trade Organization has issued a preliminary report that indicates Airbus, part of a team led by Northrop Grumman Corp. that is battling Boeing Co. for the tanker work, accepted illegal loans from European governments to develop commercial aircraft.
Boeing representatives and political leaders from Washington state and Kansas, where Boeing is proposing to assemble its planes, have called on the Pentagon to include the WTO issue in its evaluation of the tanker bids.
Alabama officials are saying the WTO report should impact the process.
