One of the westernmost points of the Mobile city limits will creep a little closer to Schillinger Road when an annexation approved Tuesday by the Mobile City Council takes effect.
The city will add 50 acres owned by Wynnfield Development, a company controlled by local builders Joe Vinson and Charlie Maclay.
Mobile has undeveloped land next to its city limits. Pensacola is surrounded by water and urban areas. Florida’s laws make it more difficult for city’s to annex areas – the property owners have to vote for it. In other states, when the adjacent acreage gets a certain population density then it is annexed automatically by city council vote.
