More blood shed

What started as war to find weapons of mass destruction, topple a dictator and end the war on terrorism as descended into in religious civil war between Sunni and Shiites. Our soldiers have become referees – under staffed, under supplied and under-lead by their civilian, political leaders.

The troops are brave and courageous – but to what aim? No weapons of mass destruction ever existed. There was no link between Hussein and the 9/11 attacks – in fact, there is actually a closer tie between the Saudis (who are allies of the Bushes) and the Al Quada.

The invasion of Iraq and the subsequent capture and execution of the Hussein has plunged the country – and the region – into chaos.

This is worse than the Vietnam War – where we were fighting communism. In the 1960s, China was trying to expand its influence over Southeast Asia – and we were fighting the supposed “Domino Effect” and upholding democracy.

In Iraq, it’s a religious war that we’re responsible for unleashing. We’re trying to place democracy in a place that hasn’t had it for centuries…or asked for it. This war has become more like the failed Holy Crusades of the 11th & 13th centuries. The Moslems won then and will win again here eventually. We don’t have enough soldiers to make the Middle East “stable.” Other nations are reluctant to join us – thanks to the failed foreign policies of the Bush Administration.

Just as we did to end the Vietnam War – we will eventually withdraw. The religious war will fight to a conclusion. And in 20 years, our grandchildren will be visiting Bagdad as a tourism spot like Americans who now vacation in Vietnam.

Until then – we will continue to read: 10 Americans die in bloody Iraq weekend
