More BP globs headed our way

From The Ledger: Oil Crisis Focus Now On Tactics

Pushed by the strong prevailing wind and currents, the globs of today will become the tar balls of tomorrow on the Panhandle beaches.

Key points from the article:
Florida officials asked for and got a promise from BP to provide 20 more skimming vessels as the oil threat increases off the state’s beaches.

Remember the tugboat that a reader reported was anchored near Ft. McRae?

Oil-contaminated ships and boats can be met at the mouth of the Pensacola Pass for a decontamination process. On Saturday, the tugboat Gasparilla from Tampa was on duty, displaying its ability to clean vessels by using a jet spray of high-pressure, heated water.

Also the Pensacola City Council was worried about oil-soaked boom coming into Bayou Chico – it’s here (15 days from now the council will vote on whether to do anything about it):

In Bayou Chico, the Unified Command has set up a large decontamination and staging area that is being used to deploy cleanup crews, booms, equipment and vessels where needed. It also helps with the disposal of oil waste. And on Saturday, a large crane held what appeared to be an oil-soaked boom in the decontamination area.
