More on Better Pensacola Forum and survey

The Better Pensacola Forum has released its first annual attitude survey. The Quality of Life survey was conducted by Mason-Dixon Polling & Research of Washington, D.C. The company surveyed 800 registered Escambia County voters during the week of July 22-27, 2008.

The Better Pensacola Forum is non-profit, non-partisan organization headed by former Pensacola mayor and Florida House majority leader Jerry Maygarden. Its board includes Carol Carlan, retired city president of Wachovia Bank, John Hosman, first PYP president, and Quint Studer, CEO of Studer Group. The organization is a registered 501(c) 3 non-profit corporation.

In an interview with the IN, Maygarden expressed the group’s desire to conduct this survey on an annual basis and eventually create an unbiased scorecard on the quality of life of this community. This first survey creates a baseline to measure future progress.

“We want to help local policy makers to choose wisely,” says Maygarden. “We also want them to know that someone is going to set a new standard for accountability.”
