More on Bubbas on Patrol

WEAR TV has picked up our story on code enforcement officers also becoming corrections officers.

Dan Thomas reported:

Code enforcement made a big splash in neighborhood like this one a few months ago when they did a clean up sweep through here, citing people for overgrown lawns and in operable cars. Now the county is looking into possibly putting code enforcement in the same department as corrections officers…

It’s just one of the changes being talked about inside county government. It’s a job that walks the line between law enforcement and solid waste. Right now code officers answer to the department head that controls the landfill.

But soon they could be answering to the same boss who oversees corrections officers at the road prison. It’s all part of a streamlining effort… To slim down the county’s 22 departments to 6 “divisions.”

And eliminate at least one job… The Assistant County Administrator position, recently vacated by Willie Taylor.
