An investigation continues into what is believed to have been a drug-related incident that resulted in numerous shots being fired Monday night at a local apartment complex.
Police recovered a handgun and rifle, live rounds, spent shell casings, cocaine, and marijuana during the investigation.
Officers initially were dispatched to the Arbor Club Apartments, 700 College Blvd., just before 6:30 p.m. Monday on a shots fired call. Upon arrival, they found numerous bullet holes inside and outside apartments and recovered several firearms.
The investigation has revealed at least one person is believed to have started the incident and another eventually returned fire, said Detective Jon Thacker.
Numerous people have been interviewed and arrests are pending. One person – Jimmy Gilliams, 22, of 1260 Cheyenne Circle, Pensacola – was arrested after officers learned he had outstanding warrants with the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.
