Northwest Florida Move to Amend is continuing its campaign to appeal to Pensacola City Council to adopt a resolution in favor of a 28th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, that simply, clearly and unequivocally establishes that the People of the United States of America reject the U.S. Supreme Court’s Citizens United ruling, and that they move to amend the U.S. Constitution to firmly establish “that money is not speech, and that human beings, not corporations, are persons entitled to inalienable constitutional rights.”
Mike Potter said in his email to Inweekly, “We have been speaking out during the public forum portion of each City Council meeting since October. We will continue to do so. We need your support.”
The next Pensacola City Council meeting is this Thursday, February 12, 5:30 PM, at Pensacola City Hall. The meeting begins with a 30 minute public forum. Please plan to attend.
Potter asks that supporters “come and support our cause! Wear a Move To Amend button. (We will have one for you, if you ask.) Or else, wear something red.”
The amendment and the petition can be found at www.movetoamend.org. All are urged to sign the petition on line. Over 15,000 Florida residents have already signed the petition.
(Northwest Florida Move to Amend’s next regular monthly meeting takes place Wednesday night, February 18, 6:30 – 8 PM, at the Tryon Branch of the West Florida Public Library, on Langely Avenue in Pensacola, midway between Ninth Avenue and Davis Highway. All are welcome.)
