Move To Amend screens ‘Legalize Democracy,’ April 20

Northwest Florida Move to Amend will host a viewing of “Legalize Democracy”, a film about the history behind the Supreme Court’s ruling in Citizens United v. FEC that opened the floodgates to unlimited corporate spending on elections.

Move To Amend is a nonpartisan coalition of hundreds of organizations and more than 400,000 individuals who want to reduce big money corruption in government, and restore democracy through an Amendment to the U.S. Constitution that says money is NOT free speech, a corporation, union or other artificial entity is NOT a person with inalienable rights, and money CAN be regulated in political campaigns.

To date, more than 400,000 people have signed an online petition supporting a constitutional amendment at www.MoveToAmend.org.

The Move to Amend campaign is a long-term effort to make the U.S. Constitution more democratic. We recognize that amending the Constitution will not be easy, but we know correcting the Supreme Court is imperative to the progress of our nation.

A discussion following the movie will focus on how people in Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties and beyond are taking action to win the amendment campaign through grassroots mobilization.
