Murzin busy in House

State Rep Dave Murzin has sponsored several communications bills, one repealing taxes on aviation fuel, others on false light, nursing homes, payment for ambulance fees and a resolution on Black History Month.

State Motor Fuel Taxes Provides for refunding motor fuel taxes paid on fuel used for commercial aviation purposes.

HB 385 – Nursing Home Facilities

Nursing Home Facilities: Revises provisions relating to frequency of quality-of-care & other monitoring of, provision of certified nursing assistant training by, & various reporting requirements for nursing home facilities; directs AHCA to assign standard licensure status to facilities that have corrected specified deficiencies; revises provisions relating to classification of facility deficiencies.

HB 919 – Emergency Communications Systems

Emergency Communications Systems: Redesignates emergency telephone system as “Florida Emergency Communications Number 911 System”; removes provisions relating to collection of 911 fee & indemnification of local telephone companies; provides for “Voice Communications Services Board,” voice communication services fee, & rates & collection from consumers; authorizes uses of fees collected; provides for indemnification & limitation of liability for local exchange carriers; provides penalties for misuse of E911 system.

HB 921 – Wireless Communications Funds

Wireless Communications Funds: Redesignates Wireless Emergency Telephone System Fund as “Emergency Communications Number E911 System Fund”; requires that all revenues derived from fee levied by county on local exchange subscribers be paid into State Treasury by specified date & that such moneys be accounted for in special fund; provides methodology for distribution of such funds; requires Auditor General to annually audit such fund.
