Pensacola- Representative Dave Murzin has contacted the FCC seeking intervention in the Mediacom and Sinclair Broadcasting Group dispute.  This dispute is threatening to the public safety of our consumers, many of which cannot receive a good signal for this station over-the-air.

According to Representative Murzin, “Local consumers should not have to rely on a Mobile, Alabama station to get their local news.  Since WEAR-3 T.V. is the only local news station, consumers will not be aware of weather-related or terrorist threats should they occur if their programming is cancelled.”

Representative Murzin has urged the FCC to insure that consumers continue to have access to this programming while the dispute is being considered.  If the FCC does not take immediate action local consumers will no longer have access to WEAR through their cable company beginning December 1, 2006.
