Wrestler “Macho Man” Randy Savage died in a car accident Friday. Savage was among the most popular wrestlers in the World Wrestling Federation and World Championship Wrestling in the 1980s and 1990s. He was living in Seminole, Florida. His real name was Randy Puffo.
In 2002, I met Savage in the most unlikely place–the AOPi house at the University of Florida. He was moving into the house his stepdaughter and I was moving in Cat. We talked as we held the door for each other and carried boxes up the stairs. Nothing earth shattering, mostly about how much crap we had to load up the stairs.
