Nagin sentenced to 10 years in prison for fraud and bribery

Former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin, Jr. was sentenced today to 10 years in federal prison for his Feb. 12 conviction of fraud, bribery and related charges involving crimes in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in August 2005. Nagin was convicted of accepting bribes–money, free vacation trips and even truckloads of granite for his family business–from businessmen who wanted work from the city. Read more.
