New Airport Exec Nominated

gregory DonovanPensacola Mayor Ashton Hayward has nominated Gregory Donovan to serve as the next director of the Pensacola International Airport. He will seek confirmation from the Pensacola City Council during its Feb. 11 meeting.

The airport’s current director, Melinda Crawford, announced recently she would be accepting the directorship at Charlottesville Albemarle Airport in Virginia.

For the past five years, Donovan has served as the director for the Okaloosa Airports System. Prior to that, he spent seven years in Pensacola as the assistant airport director.

“Greg is a first class professional who knows our airport and our market,” Hayward said in a released statement.

The mayor referred to the local airport as an invaluable “economic engine” and to Donovan as the “right person” to continue growing the facility.

Donovan is certified as an Accredited Airport Executive (AAE) by the American Association of Airport Executives. In 2011, he was named Aviation Professional of the Year by the Florida Department of Transportation and also served as president of the Florida Airports Council from 2011 to 2012.
