New poll has Jeff Miller in 2nd for U.S. Senate GOP nomination

A new poll by St. Leo University shows a wide-open race to win Marco Rubio’s U.S. Senate seat, especially on the Republican side with 43 percent of the GOP voters not sure who they will support in 2016.

Topping the potential candidate list is former state Attorney General Bill McCollum, who has made two previous U.S. Senate bids and ran for governor in 2010, with 16 percent. He is followed by Congressman Jeff Miller with 8 percent. The rest of the field:

Lt. Gov. Carlos Lopez-Cantera 7 percent
Rep. Ron DeSantis 6 percent
Rep. David Jolly 6 percent
State Senator Don Gaetz 4 percent
Former U.S. Sen. George LeMieux 3 percent

On the Democratic side:

Rep. Patrick Murphy 27 percent
Rep. Alan Grayson 24 percent
Undecided 39 percent/
