While Pensacola gets by with an antiquated downtown public library, Panama City is finishing its new 55,000-sq. ft. library. The Pensacola City Council has been discussing a new library for over two decades. A citizens’ task force was formed – but still nothing happened. I think a new downtown library was part of this last Local Option Sales Tax extension (Mar 2006), but nothing happened on this issue in 2006 or 2007.
Maybe if DeSorbo is re-elected, he will address the issue in his 23rd year on the council.
