Following an extensive selection process, Gulf Coast Council, Scouting America has chosen Stephen Williams to serve as its next Scout Executive.

The Scout Executive serves as the Council’s chief executive officer. They are responsible for the administration, financing, marketing, motivation, recruiting, and staffing required for successful council operations.

Gordon King, CEO of Okaloosa Gas and Gulf Coast Council President, headed up the Search Committee and is confident in Williams’ abilities. “Steve brings his leadership and management skills to lead volunteers and staff through an inspirational, energetic manner with an objective to achieve significant financial growth, produce strong programming, and build long-term fiduciary sustainability.”

A Mobile, Alabama native and seasoned Scout Executive with a 24-year track record of success in Scout leadership in Florida, Louisiana, and Oklahoma, Williams looks forward to returning to the Gulf Coast.

“This is an excellent opportunity to facilitate the greatest step the Gulf Coast Council will take in its storied history and a bit of a ‘homecoming’ for me,” Williams said. “I have had the mission of facing great challenges in every territory I have had the honor and privilege to serve in all ten of my previous positions. I look forward to meeting the great people of the Emerald Coast and working with them to manifest their potential and the future of the Gulf Coast Council.”
