New UWF VP

Press Release: University of West Florida President Judith A. Bense this week announced the appointment of Matthew D. Altier to vice president for administrative services, effective July 1.

Altier most recently served as vice president for administration and finance at The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, a public and highly selective liberal arts college, where he was responsible for budget & finance, campus master planning, revenue generation, public-private partnerships and environmental health and safety.

“Mr. Altier brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to UWF, and I’m looking forward to the great contributions he’ll make here as vice president for administrative services,” said UWF President Judith A. Bense. “We had tremendously well qualified candidates, but Matt’s entrepreneurial experience will bring new opportunities for UWF.”

“I am extremely excited about UWF’s potential for growth and new projects,” Altier said. “I’ve been interested in returning to Florida for several years, and it was an easy decision to take the opportunity to return to the state and work in the Pensacola area with UWF.”

Previously, Mr. Altier worked for the 29,000-student California State University, Sacramento, as university vice president for planning, real property and new business, and chief executive officer of University Enterprises, Inc. He was responsible for University Master Planning, management of property and real estate development, and development of public-private partnerships.

“I’m looking forward to working with the dedicated staff, faculty and administrators, as well as exploring opportunities to further economic development both at the University and within the Northwest Florida region,” Altier said.

Altier holds a bachelor’s degree from California State University, Chico and served in the U.S. Air Force.
