Mobile Press Register reports “Mobile County Commissioner Stephen Nodine, who police have described as a “person of interest” in the Sunday night shooting death of a Gulf Shores woman, has been admitted to Mobile Infirmary Medical Center.”
Nodine has been a regular visitor to Pensacola since 2008 promoting the failed Air Tanker bid and its impact on Northwest Florida. Nodine had press conferences on the steps of the Escambia County Courthouse; he spoke to the Economics Club and other groups; he even appeared at the side of Comm. Gene Valentino before the Escambia County Commission last June when Valentino presented his economic development Powerpoint.
The last public appearance for Nodine in Escambia County was at the Florabama Mullet Toss with Valentino – which WEAR TV caught on tape.
At one-time, Nodine was considered a legitimate candidate for Alabama governor. That is all gone. The death of Angel Downs will open a much wider investigation into Nodine’s political and business dealings.
