Nodine backs off drug test offer

Last week, Mobile County Commissioner Stephen Nodine offered to submit to a drug test after what appeared to be marijuana was found his county vehicle. The Mobile Press Register is reporting that Nodine, upon the advice of his attorney, is withdrawing that offer.

Mobile County Commissioner Stephen Nodine will not take a drug test after the recent discovery of a substance that authorities believe is marijuana in his county-issued pickup truck, according to his attorney, Domingo Soto.

“It is my advice that he not take any test and he’s going to comply with my wishes,” Soto said this week.

“He’s not a county employee,” Soto said. “He’s accountable to the citizens of Mobile County and that’s who he works for. If they choose to admonish him, they will do it at the polls.”
