Nodine Trial: Defense expert says evidence points to suicide

The defense is working hard to prove former Mobile County Commissioner Stephen Nodine didn’t kill his girlfriend Angel Downs.

Private investigator Michelle Alfanso disputed the prosecution’s suggestion that Steve Nodine could have taken a shower after Angel Downs’ death at Timber Creek Golf Club in Daphne.

Dr. James Lauridson, a forensic pathologist hired by the defense, testified that he believes Angel Downs’ death should be called a suicide from the “get go.”

Ruby Moore, the owner of a downtown Mobile restaurant, told jurors she saw Nodine and Downs on the Thursday before Downs’ death holding hands.
