The jurors in the Stephen Nodine murder trial heard several witnesses that contradict the former Mobile County Commissioner’s statements about what happened the day his girfriend Angel Downs was murdered.
The 911 call featured a resident of The Ridge condominiums off Fort Morgan Road telling the operator that he heard a shot and then saw a red pickup truck with a government license plate leaving the subdivision. When transferred to a dispatcher from the Gulf Shores Police Department, the neighbor said he recognized the truck as Steve Nodine’s.
Nodine told deputies later that he returned to the condo to get his wallet and didn’t see Downs.
The juror also heard from a friend of the couple who testified to Nodine calling him days after the murder to give him his version of the day, a forensic expert who believes the crime scene may have been staged and a firearms expert.
