Texas also is purging voter rolls

The effort to cut out potential threats to GOP candidates by simply dropping them from the voter registration rolls is more widespread than we thought.

More than 1.5 million voters could be purged from Texas voter rolls, according to an analysis by the Houston Chronicle. Yesterday, the newspaper warned its readers for voter registration cancellation notices coming in the mail.

Between November 2008 to November 2010, more than 300,000 eligible voters were notified they could be removed from the voter rolls. That’s one in 10 voters. For voters under 30, that number doubles to one in five.
