Local State of Emergency has been declared by Escambia Board of County Commissioners beginning 12 Midnight on Monday January 27th through 12 Midnight on Wednesday January 29th. Therefore, the City of Pensacola will suspend non-essential operations tomorrow, Tuesday, January 28, as well as Wednesday, January 29. All City facilities, including City Hall, City of Pensacola neighborhood resource centers, and all other City offices will close for both days.

All Non- Essential employees for the City of Pensacola will stay home Tuesday and Wednesday. The City of Pensacola will not suspend sanitation collection on Tuesday, January 28. Tuesday’s garbage, recycling, and trash will continue with normal collection schedule.

The Pensacola International Airport will remain open and is conducting normal flight operations until airfield conditions necessitate closure. Airport personnel will be monitoring all airfield surfaces by utilizing specialized equipment that measures breaking efficiency. If runway conditions deteriorate due to ice or snow, airport staff will report field conditions to air traffic control and flight crews. If conditions fall to a poor breaking action, Pensacola International Airport will then close.

Airlines may decide to preemptively cancel flights out of concerns for people traveling on roads and bridges to get to the airport. Passengers should check the status of their flight at www.flypensacola.com for real-time flight information.

All actions are being taken in response to ¼ inch of ice being forecast beginning in the early morning hours on Tuesday and continued freezing temperatures in the forecast through Wednesday. Normal operations will resume on Thursday, January 30th
