During next week’s Pensacola City Council Committee of the Whole, council members will be considering possibly green lighting alcoholic beverages at a senior center.
Currently, ordinance does not allow for the consumption of alcoholic beverages “in or upon†the Bayview Senior Center. The ban is enforced by the Neighborhood Services Department and the Pensacola Police Department.
During COW, council will consider amending city code to allow for consumption of alcoholic beverages, provided that a sponsor has liquor liability insurance. The presence of alcohol would also require an event to cover the cost of “adequate Pensacola Police Department presence.â€
City code was previously amended—in April 2007—to allow alcohol beverages at Wayside Park, Bayview Park, Plaza de Luna, Seville Square, Bartram Park, East Pensacola Heights Clubhouse, Roger Scott Tennis Center, Saenger Theatre, Osceola Golf Course and the Sanders Beach Community Center.
Due to the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday, COW is scheduled for Tuesday, at 3:15 p.m. at Pensacola City Hall.
