Olson gives update on city projects

At the end of the five-hour Pensacola City Council meeting on Thursday, Jan. 14, City Administrator Eric Olson gave his update on city operations.

The mayor’s recommendation to build new Fire Station #3 on Summit Boulevard will be presented to the council in February.

Projected Timeline:
June 2016: Issue RFQ for architecture and engineering
Dec 2016: Issue RFP for construction
1st Qtr 2017: Construction begins
1st Qtr 2018: Construction complete

New Bayview Center: Construction to begin 2nd Qtr 2017.

Fish Hatchey: Architecture and engineering selection to be announced this week. Contract negotiations 60 days. Hatchery design will “take about 12 months.”

Living Shoreline project: The conceptual design should be 30 percent complete in March or April. A public hearing will be held to give input on the design.

Fall 2016: Construction put for bid
Early 2018: Construction completed

Ferry Landing System: “Scheduled to be ready to be put out for bid, and construction would be completed by the end of the year.”

Corrine Jones Stormwater Pond project: Construction starts the second week of February. Completed by year-end.
