The Florida Department of Education released today the FCAT 2.0 writing scores and the third-grade reading and math scores. In Escambia County, only about half of the third-graders were proficient in reading and in math. On the writing segment, less than half of the fourth-graders and eight-graders were proficient. The 10-graders dropped 4 percentage points. The writing grades were significantly below state averages – 10-11 points.
