One fake candidate withdraws, will more follow?

Write-in candidate for Escambia County Clerk of Courts John Misiak has withdrawn from the race. Misiak, who lives in Santa Rosa County, was believed to be on the ballot to close the GOP primary to Democratic and independent voters.

“I wish to inform you that I withdraw as a candidate for the Clerk of the Circuit Court, Escambia County. Thank you for your and your staff’s help and professionalism,” Misiak wrote in a letter to the Supervisor of Elections.

This means Pam Childers can take down her campaign signs and focus on her transition to the position.

No NPA or Write-in candidate has ever won a race in Escambia County.

Here are others who should consider withdrawing:

Mindy Lynn Pare – Sheriff…who hasn’t raised any money since she filed.
Bobby Spencer – County Commission, District 1 – who has donated $2,000 to his account
Hugh King – County Commission, District 3 – who has somehow spent more than he has received in donations, according to his last report — Cash contributions $7,188, Expenditures $7,231
Dooley Johnson – County Commission, District 3 – who has raised $775 and spent $685

Two exceptions might be:
Packy Mitchell, County Commission, District 5 –who has raised over $12,700
Elizabeth Campbell – who is the incumbent for ECUA District 1 seat – but she has only raised $770

However, Mitchell and Campbell are still longshots to win.
