Oops, Ford isn’t getting any Speaker buzz

The local Republicans gave as important reason to re-elect Clay Ford was that he would be the Speaker of the Florida House by 2012 or 2014 (his last term). The St. Pete Times doesn’t list him as a credible candidate for either year.

Rep. Dean Cannon may have already been tapped as House Speaker in 2010. Rep. Will Weatherford has claimed the crown in 2012. There is already a battle under way for 2014, with Chris Dorworth, R-Lake Mary and Erik Fresen, R-Miami.

Of course, local Republican also believed that Joe Scarborough would be U.S. President by 2008 or 2012.
