While I’m truly sorry for any health and family matters, fresh leadership for our COC is an absolute imperative for any improvement and solutions to our homeless crisis.
Therefore I really hope and urge that homeless advocates, community leaders, elected officials, and the press won’t rest comfortable with Mr. Johnson’s exit, but will insist the entire board of Opening Doors have the good grace and common sense to welcome fresh leadership, starting with the signatory of the letter.
We need a clean slate on both the Opening Doors Board and the COC, with the first and primary prerequisite being an understanding of conflict of interest, and how not to do it.
