Operation De PEZ Navy

From the Facebook page of Eddie Murray:

Friends – as you all know Hurricane Ida kicked south Louisiana in the teeth and continued to do just that though this morning. One of our current krewemen, and veteran, Clay Usie, has family and many friends in the Houma area that have been adversely impacted. They have multiple homes that are now uninhabitable and are in need of help in the way of manpower but especially donations. We are also currently in contact the Houma Police chief regarding the community’s needs.

William Morrill is in contact with his New Orleans infrastructure group. They say expect power to be out for a while . Entergy plants at 9 mile and the Nuke plant took damage. One of the main transmission towers fell into the  river.

Currently the needs are: tarps, gas cans with gas, cases of water, paper towels, toilet paper, trash bags, zip ties, ear plugs, gallons of water, chainsaws, oil, safety glasses, generators, power cords, work gloves, chainsaw gas, MRE’s, non perishable food, granola bars, hand sanitizer, deodorant, first aid kits, feminine products, tooth paste, tooth brushes, eye wash, hand soap, laundry detergent, batteries, flashlights, medicated powder, baby powder, baby wipes, formula and diapers.

We have developed a team of able bodied krewe guys to help make trailer runs to the Houma and surrounding areas with multiple trailers. Currently we have four donation drop locations set up to include The Wisteria, Pensacola Aviation Center, Mark Johnson Supply Company and Seville Power Equipment. All four drop points are taking donations effectively immediately. These donations are not being dropped off at some street corner but rather going straight to families in need.

We plan on making the first of many, mission critical truck runs starting as soon as tonight or tomorrow morning based on road conditions in and out of South Louisiana.

If you have wanted to give back or donate to a great cause this is your chance. Even a case of water helps.

Drop off locations
Wisteria (12th ave)
Pensacola Aviation Center
Seville Power Equipment (12 ave)
Johnson Supply Company (50 south E street)
