Palafox Market Continues Rain, Shine or Construction [Maps]

Despite ongoing downtown construction, Pensacola’s beloved Palafox Market isn’t going anywhere. Downtown Improvement Board Executive Director Walker Wilson made that clear this week, confirming that both market locations will operate normally throughout the Reimagine Palafox project.

Two Markets, Free Parking, and a Trolley

The markets at MLK Plaza and Plaza Ferdinand will be open every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., except for Mardi Gras weekend. Vendors are returning from their post-holiday break, with a full market expected this Saturday.

A free trolley runs from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays, connecting the North Palafox lot, Plaza Ferdinand, the Comendencia lot, DeLuna Landing near Jocko’s, and the county garage on Baylen Street. The route has been updated to accommodate construction detours.

New Portland Loo Debuts Saturday

This weekend marks the debut of the Portland Loo public restroom at MLK Plaza—a long-awaited addition to the market experience.

“The Portland Lou, this will be its first Palafox market on Saturday,” Wilson explained. The facility includes a baby changing station and will be maintained by DIB staff throughout market hours.

Pedestrian Access Remains Easy

With outdoor seating temporarily removed, sidewalks along Palafox are actually more accessible than usual. The city has provided crosswalks at each intersection, making it simple to walk between market locations.
