Pediatric residents win second in statewide Brain Bowl

Press release: At the first-ever Florida American Academy of Pediatric (AAP) Residents Brain Bowl, Sacred Heart pediatric residents captured second place out of nine teams, narrowly missing out on first place at the final question to Johns Hopkins Medicine residents at All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Sacred Heart’s team of pediatric residents included third-years Dr. Rachael Evans and Dr. Allison Payne with second-years Dr. Mudasser Ibrahim and Dr. Christine Pham. The event was held at Walt Disney World in Orlando.

“Our study sessions over the past few weeks helped, but as this competition proved, our residents are among the very best in the state,” says Dr. Peter Jennings, director of the pediatric residency program at Sacred Heart. “Our faculty’s support and commitment to education greatly contributed to this awesome performance. Everyone had a great time, and it was wonderful to see much of the pediatric graduate medical education community for the state of Florida together, engaged and enjoying the experience.”
