Pen Air Employees grant Magic Moment wish

On Wednesday, Aug. 31 at 10 a.m., the employees of Pen Air Federal Credit Union will grant a 13-year-old, Central Baldwin Middle School student his Magic Moment wish. The surprise will include an all-expense paid vacation to Disney World and Give Kids the World Village with his family, and will take place at the Pen Air Robertsdale location, 4586 Highway 90.

Due to the physical and financial struggles this family has faced, they have never taken a vacation together. This student was diagnosed with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus when he was 24-weeks-old. Confined to a wheelchair, his mother says, “He doesn’t accept that he can’t keep up with his friends.” He is like any other teenage boy – he loves batman and being with friends.

“We are incredibly grateful to the team at Pen Air for making this Magic Moment possible,” said Sharon Stokes, Regional Director for Magic Moments of Alabama. “They are giving this family a precious gift – a respite from the stress of illness, and an opportunity to spend joyful time together as a family.”

The funds given are raised through Jeans for Generosity (J4G), an employee-driven fundraising effort to give back to those in need in the community. Each year, the employees nominate local, non-profit organizations to be voted on as recipients of this philanthropic program. Funds are raised through payroll deductions and Jeans for Generosity days. The funds raised by the employees are matched by Pen Air and divided equally among the voted charities for the year. Through J4G, the employees have given more than $160,000 since the program began in 2013. Learn more at penair.org/JeansforGenerosity.
