A local teen is raising money again for Arc Gateway’s Pearl Nelson Center, which serves children with developmental issues. Here’s the press release from Arc:
Joshua Wilheim is holding his second annual fundraiser “Pennies for Pearl Nelson” during the month of April. The 16-year-old student raised $841 in April 2012 for Arc Gateway’s Pearl Nelson Child Development Center. Joshua, who is on the autism spectrum and is now a student at Escambia High School, received therapies from Pearl Nelson Center when he was younger. His goal this year is to raise $1000. Funds raised from his penny drive will go to support the wireless internet access needed for the therapists who provide services to children in homes, day care settings or other offsite locations.
Pearl Nelson Center provides developmental instruction as well as speech, occupational and physical therapy to children with, or at risk of, developmental delays in the Pensacola area. If you would like to help Joshua support Pearl Nelson Center’s life “changing” work contact Arc Gateway, 850-434-2638, and pick up one of Joshua’s hand-decorated penny collection containers.
With the help of members, supporters and volunteers, Arc Gateway has been proud to provide life-enhancing programs to help children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities realize their dreams since 1954. For more information, visit www.arc-gateway.org.
