The Pensacola FC takes on the Columbus (Ga.) United RC tonight in a semi-final match at Ashton Brosnaham Stadium at 7 p.m. The tailgating starts around 5:30 p.m. Tickets $10.

The Pensacola FC is part of the 89-team National Premier Soccer League.

Justin Witkin used a baseball analogy to explain the heirachy of U.S. soccer.

“In U.S. soccer, you’ve got the MLS that is major league soccer, and then you’ve got AAA and A, which are the USL and the NPSL, the where the Pensacola FC local team plays in.,” he explained. “It’s the feeder sort of to the pro rank. It’s a lot of college players and some post-college players, guys that are looking to secure professional contracts and guys that are looking to move up in their college careers.”

He continue, “But it’s a high level of soccer, and it’s across the country. There are four regions. We’re obviously in the south part of the United States and we’re looking to capture our first conference title this year. We’re 7-1-2 in the regular season finished on top of the Gulf Coast Sunshine Conference.”
