Press Release: The Pensacola Little Theatre invites you to get out your boxing gloves, or rather take the gloves off, and get into the ring.

PLT’s next show to take stage is the Broadway hit, God of Carnage, and it is not a story for the faint of heart.

Set in Brooklyn, the story begins with a playground altercation between two eleven-year-old boys fighting over joining each other’s “gang.” The scuffle ends up with one child breaking two teeth, which brings the parents together to resolve the matter.

At first, diplomatic niceties are observed but as the evening progresses, the drinks get stronger, and the tempers hotter. The parents begin their own fight, each couple arguing with the other and themselves. By the end of the night they are acting worse than their children.

The play, originally written by Yasmina Reza, was developed into a NYC Broadway production in 2009 and 2010. It opened at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theater and starred well-known actors Jeff Daniels, James Gandolfini, Hope Davis, and Marcia Gay Harden. With over 400 performances, the show received two Tony Awards for Best Play and Best Actress.

Pensacola’s production of God of Carnage is directed by Jay Bixler. It stars Lisa Goodness as Veronica and Andy Marr as her husband Michael. On the other side of the carnage is Christina Cusack and Jibri Nuriddin as Annette and Alan, respectively.

God of Carnage is a Studio 400 production and is recommended for adult audiences only. The show runs uninterrupted with no intermission. Be sure to arrive early and feel free to purchase drinks and snacks from Portabello Market. Food and drink may be taken into the Studio 400 Theatre, which will be set up cafe-style for the show with chairs and bistro tables.

Show dates are September 4-6, and September 10-12, 2015. All evening performances start at 7:30 p.m. and the Sunday matinee begins at 2:30 p.m. Tickets may be purchased online or at the PLT Box office on weekdays 10:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. as well as one hour prior to each show.
