Can you dance, sing, entertain, or beat on some drums? If so, the Pensacola Marathon Presented by Publix is looking for you to help entertain the over 3,000 runners that will be participating in the 2014 Pensacola Marathon on Sunday, Nov. 9.

In addition to ten DJ music stations and six live band locations on the course, an additional 10 groups are needed to fill the goal of having an entertainment group every mile, covering the 26.2 mile course. Groups could include high school bands, church bands, drum lines, parade floats, cheer leader teams, Boy and Girl Scout troops, college fraternity or sorority, etc.

The entertainment groups will be judged and voted on by anonymous runners as they run by. The top two groups receiving the most votes will win $500 and $250 respectfully.

“Having on-course support and entertainment is an important aspect of a half and full marathon,” said Ray Palmer, Executive Director of the Pensacola Sports Association, the events management company. “Running over 26 miles is a huge accomplishment and these runners feed off the encouragement, music, cheers, and other support along the course. It’s also a major factor in runners traveling to a race and returning year after year.”

The number of hours needed to entertain will vary depending where in the course a group is positioned.
