The MESS Hall has switched to summer hours to offer kids and families more time to explore Math, Engineering, Science & Stuff, with themes changing throughout the summer months. The MESS Hall is now open Tuesday – Saturday from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. Circus Week begins June 10. On World Juggling Day, June 14, enjoy a juggling demonstration at 1 p.m., no registration required, and make your own juggling balls. Learn to juggle during a workshop at 2 p.m., pre-registration recommended. On Saturday, June 21 at 1 p.m., make your own light-up bracelet at the Sewable Circuits Family Workshop ($4/$6 member/nonmember to cover materials).
Summer Camp registrations are underway for parents looking for ways to keep the kids busy, having fun and learning. There is a wide variety of MESS Hall Summer Camps which are half-day, week-long themes to interest kids, grades 1-9. Popular camps include the Science of Sailing, Inventor’s Workshop, and the Code Academy, which teaches the basics of programming in Scratch. About the Pensacola MESS Hall
The MESS Hall is not a typical science museum. Founded in 2012 by Dr. Megan Pratt and located at 116 N. Tarragona Street in Downtown Pensacola, the MESS Hall lets visitors get to work like real scientists, developing questions and creating experiments, engaging in and learning science through tinkering. It’s all hands-on science. Rather than exhibits with planned outcomes, the MESS Hall is designed like a cafeteria, with a menu of “mess kits†that changes daily.
